The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping that the Blues will go one better…
Jason Cundy has become quite a significant figure in the press as of late, with the ex-Chelsea defender often defending the Blues through times of hardship and media scrutiny.
A self-confessed Chelsea fan, Cundy is often optimistic about the Blues chances – but in an exclusive interview with Sun Sport, the player-turned-pundit has revealed that a title challenge should not be the focus of Antonio Conte this season.
He said: “I think in all honesty a top four finish has to be the priority”.
Cundy continued: “If Chelsea are solid the way they were against United and create the chances they have been then I might review it. But at the moment it a bit too soon to say they are title contenders.”
The Chelsea fans in the Football Transfer Tavern aren’t too happy about this one. They’re all in a buoyant mood this week after the Blues thumping of Man Utd at the weekend – and they all believe that the sky is the limit for Antonio Conte’s side.
Our landlord is a bit more cynical, and like Cundy – he is airing on the side of caution. He thinks the Blues were impressive at the weekend – but a title challenge is likely too soon for the young Chelsea squad.
It must be said, Chelsea’s performance against Man Utd was impressive – but it comes on the back of defeats against both Liverpool and Arsenal – suggesting that there is a lot of room for improvement for Antonio Conte’s side.
