Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern believe it’s obvious major deals need to be completed this summer and they’re urging Jurgen Klopp to splash the cash.
Last summer’s signings Joel Matip, Georginio Wijnaldum and Sadio Mane have all become instant hits at Anfield, but further recruits are required if the Reds are to move forward and challenge for the biggest honours.
Significant improvements to the squad will definitely be necessary if Klopp’s side seal a top-four finish and a return to the Champions League, as the fans in the bar have pointed out that a defence that struggles against the likes of Burnley and Crystal Palace will be torn apart in Europe’s main stage.
As well as boosting his options at the back, Klopp is also supposedly eyeing improvements to his attacking ranks and a post shared on Twitter suggested his prime targets for the summer included Fulham full-back Ryan Sessegnon, Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.
Fans have reacted accordingly to those rumours, with our landlord stating he believes these signings would be excellent pieces of business for the Reds….
