Both Newcastle United and Sunderland fans are drowning their sorrows in The Transfer Tavern this evening after news that the striker both clubs were targeting for survival has pledged his immediate future to his current club.
During an interview with Sky Sports, Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin hinted that he would like to remain at the club and help them achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
Speculation over where Austin’s future lies had intensified over recent weeks with clubs circulating around the hitman and readying January bids to tempt the striker away from the London club.
But following the news that he would like to remain at Loftus Road until at least the summer, it looks likely that both Newcastle and Sunderland will have to look elsewhere for a prolific striker who can fire them both to Premier League safety.
Speaking about staying at Queens Park Rangers, Austin told Sky Sports:
“I can’t see myself leaving in January, because I’m concentrating on playing for QPR. I think I owe it them and my loyalty is with them, to help them and get promoted.”
“Football is a small career and you have to make the right decisions, the right moves, and if it’s right for myself, and my family and the people I bounce the ideas off then I will take on anything.”
The news that Austin will not be looking to leave Queens Park Rangers until at least the summer has been met with a positive response from their fans in The Transfer Tavern, who are delighted that the player is showing loyalty to the club and themselves.
