Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are wondering what’s happened with an expected signing, after a Jurgen Klopp favourite rejected an Anfield move.
The Telegraph states David Wagner has rejected a job at Liverpool as he eyes the managerial vacancy at Huddersfield Town, following the decision by the Championship strugglers to relieve Chris Powell of his duties.
Klopp wanted to bring his former Borussia Dortmund assistant to Anfield to become a part of the backroom staff, after Wagner left the German side seeking a new challenge, but the plans of the Liverpool boss have been left in tatters.
Wagner is set to be appointed by the second-tier side within the next 48 hours, with the former United States international set for his first job leading a team- after previously working behind the scenes in Germany.
Fans expected Wagner to join Klopp’s Liverpool regime, knowing that the pair share a close relationship with the former being best-man at the wedding of the Liverpool boss.
