Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drawing up a list of potential managerial targets after a League Cup defeat to Stoke City, the final straw for Jose Mourinho in their eyes.
The Portuguese boss has lost five of the Blues opening ten Premier League matches, leaving their chances of securing a top-four finish this season hanging by a break; which would be an inexcusable failure for the defending league champions.
Mourinho’s days are numbered and Chelsea could be looking for a new boss soon- and Goal quotes former boss Guus Hiddink as being open to a return to Stamford Bridge.
“Top-class football is always attractive. I’ve had some offers come my way recently, but there were no jobs I wanted to get in to right away. We’ll see, we just have to wait now,”
Hiddink recently resigned as manager of Holland after the club failed to qualify for the 2016 European Championships but made an impression during his short stint in England; reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League and lifting the FA Cup.
However, given the recent performances of the Netherlands squad under his control, our punters are unsure as to whether he is the right man for the job.
