Fabregas to Man United: 2 major reasons why this would be a shrewd acquisition for Mourinho

As much as the Chelsea fans have grown to love him over the course of the last couple of years or so, there’s little doubt midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas poses a difficult question to the Blues.

Clearly one of the most talented pass masters in Premier League history, the World Cup winner is far from a regular in Antonio Conte’s table-topping side, making the odd substitute appearance here and there. While that’s indicative of the strength Conte has at his disposal, the Spaniard is probably one of few players too good to sit on their bench.

So, it’s been little surprise to our west London to see the former Barcelona and Arsenal ace linked with a move away. Still, the fact former manager Jose Mourinho – now with Manchester United of course – has been credited with an interest is rather surprising.

However, here are TWO big reasons he’d be ideal for Man United.

Carrick Replacement

Paul Pogba’s struggles with life back in England are well documented, though are often dealt with well when Michael Carrick is deployed as a holding midfielder next to both the Frenchman and Ander Herrera.

Still, Carrick is certainly coming to the end of his career, so finding a replacement for the former England international is of paramount importance. With that in mind, look no further than Fabregas.

As a deep-lying playmaker, there are few better in Europe and his passing range would set Pogba and Herrera free.

Winning mentality

We’ve seen just what bringing a natural born winner in the shape of Zlatan Ibrahimovic can do for United, with the superstar Swede proving the difference in the biggest game of his Man United career thus far, the EFL Cup final.

Well, Fabregas is another who has won things wherever he has played. The Spaniard is one of the most trophy-laden stars in Europe and would bring him a wealth of top level experience, key to Mourinho’s cause.
