Lucas Digne has been one of Everton’s best signings in recent seasons.
Digne was signed from Barcelona for £18m in 2018, and that now looks like an absolute snip. The France international has been an ever-present in the side, missing just six Premier League games across two full campaigns. He has also proven to be a creative force – he has 15 assists in 84 games for the Toffees, whilst he provided more key passes per game in the Premier League than any of his teammates last campaign.

Everton have started the new term fantastically – they are top of the league and are into the quarter-finals of the League Cup. In their latest match, they drew 2-2 against Liverpool at Goodison Park. In a feisty clash, Richarlison received a red card for a late tackle on Thiago Alcantara.

On Instagram, Digne tried to make light of the situation, sharing a photo of him jokingly putting the red card back in referee Michael Oliver’s pocket. The Everton supporters, it seems, loved the picture – one fan even called it “brilliant” – and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
