Alex Iwobi was named in Everton’s starting line-up for their match against Southampton on Sunday, much to the dismay of some supporters.
All in all, it was a very disappointing day at the office for the Toffees. They went into the match on top of the Premier League table and unbeaten, but they were on the end of a 2-0 defeat by the Saints as James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams found the back of the net. Not only that, Lucas Digne was sent off late on for a dangerous tackle, leaving the Toffees to struggle with ten men at the end of the clash.

Iwobi’s display will certainly have done him no favours in the long-term. The Nigeria international managed just 45 minutes before being hooked at half-time. He lost possession 13 times, which in one half is very disappointing, and he spent most of the game as a passenger.

Iwobi terrifies me – he likes too many touches and loses the ball too often. I do wonder what Carlo sees in him. Yes deffo need to sort out some back ups in January.
