The Liverpool fans in and around the Transfer Tavern don’t really know how to feel about their transfer activity so far, because it went from delight by signing Fabinho to disappointment after missing out on Frenchman Nabil Fekir.
Whatever happens for the rest of the window though, Liverpool will be happy with their two early additions in the form of Naby Keita and Fabinho but whether those two alone will be influential enough to get the Reds challenging for the title is another matter completely. One player who our punters agree would be a massive boost towards their title chase should his good form continue is Nabil Fekir’s Lyon team-mate Maxwel Cornet, who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt.
The Ivory Coast international made 43 appearances in all competitions last season, returning 7 goals and 8 assists during those games. At 21, Cornet has risen through all levels of the French national side, before switching drastically to Ivory Coast. Either way, the winger is a fantastic talent regardless and looks set for a bright career at football, which could be enjoyed at Anfield.

Cornet can play anywhere across the front-line, providing much-needed support and competition to the Reds strike force of Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Regardless of their combined heroics last campaign, the deadly front-three may be found out next season in the Premier League, so a plan B in the form of Maxwel Cornet would be a terrific option for the title hopefuls.
Liverpool enjoyed a good amount of success last year, reaching the top four for the second consecutive season and narrowly missing out on the Champions League trophy after falling to defeat against Real Madrid. Liverpool will be determined to turn those missed opportunities into trophies next season, with Maxwel Cornet having the ability to play a big part in that.
