Flashback: When Middlesbrough sold Adama Traore

It was just five months ago when Middlesbrough had to let go of Adama Traore for the Spaniard to play in the Premier League. It was a move that left the Boro fans distraught, however, the winger left the fans a heart-warming leaving message and 50 signed shirts to help get over his departure, something that only made the fans love him more.

Adama spent two seasons at The Riverside stadium and was a shining light for the club in his second season when the club were in the Championship. He provided five goals and ten assists in his 34 games in the league that season, and he was their main man as they fired their way into the playoffs. However, after such an electric season in the Championship, Premier League interest was always going to be rife.

It was Wolves who sniped the winger in the end, splashing out a club-record £18 million to meet the 22-year-old’s release clause and take him from The Riverside to Molineux. If the opportunity ever arises for Boro to sign the winger back then the fans will be desperate for their club to do so, as he will always go down as a hero at the club even though he spent just two years there and scored just five goals for them.
