Patrick Vieira’s legacy at Arsenal is still very much in the memory of everybody connected with the club; so much so, that Arsene Wenger still cherishes the belief that his former talisman will one day return to the Emirates.
Not in playing capacity, but rather as a member of Wenger’s technical team. Having already enjoyed an outstanding playing career, and now with little chance of breaking into the Manchester City starting 11, it was believed that Vieira, now 34, could be tempted to hang up his boots and return to Arsenal to help develop the next generation of stars.
A return to Arsenal would certainly feel like returning home for Vieira; however, his head may now have been turned by the opportunity to return home to his native land, with French side Olympique Marseille ready to bid for the midfielder in January. According to Calciomercato.com, City would be willing to do business for as little as £1m.
A difficult choice for Vieira, yet it all comes down to whether or not he feels he still has some playing time left in him. If so, Arsene may just have to wait a little longer, and the door will surely always be open for Vieira at the Emirates.
