Reds fans here in the Tavern are hopeful that their side can bring home a trophy this season, with 2 competitions still giving them an equal chance.
Jurgen Klopp and his side have overall enjoyed a pretty successful season thus far, however, after being tipped for a possible title challenge after the signings made in the Summer months, they haven’t lived up to expectations with a Champions League spot not even guaranteed.
However, with the deadliest attack in the Premier League, the Kopites’ here in the Tavern are excited for what January holds with the opportunity to improve on a defence that continues to receive criticism.
With one player that’s caught the attention being Stefan De Vrij, as Sports Illustrated reported of the Reds interest in the central defender.
The Lazio defender has been crucial in his current side’s success so far this season, after displaying his ability to score goals from deep, while providing the defensive solidity in what is a daunting Serie A division that hosts some of the deadliest attackers.
Indeed, hopes are set to be short-lived as a report in the Mirror suggested that Liverpool are set to miss out on the Dutch defender, after the centre-back came out to say he has no desire to leave for the Premier League yet.
Therefore, with the signing of De Vrij looking almost impossible, here’s a look at TWO players that Jurgen Klopp should look to sign.
Hector Moreno

Although the Mexican is probably renowned for inflicting the horrific leg-break to Luke Shaw in the Champions League, he’s established himself as one of the most reliable central-defenders in world football.
After recently making the move from PSV Eindhoven to AS Roma in the summer months, Hector has struggled to get in to the Italian’s side with him only managing to achieve 5+ appearances.
Indeed, with him struggling to get any real first-team football, perhaps Klopp should make a move for the defender with it being an upgrade on the current situation with Dejan Lovren and his inconsistency.
Ahmed Hegazi

The Egyptian central-defender has been sublime since joining West Bromwich Albion on-loan, with Liverpool already taking a liking to what they’ve seen of the defender.
West Brom were keen to sign the defender permanently having seen how he’s taken to Premier League football, which is exactly what they did after securing the services of their defensive rock for £4 million.
After immediately completing the signing of Ahmed Hegazi, West Brom may have been looking to the permanent signature as a way to draw more cash out of the defender, with an exit at some point in the future looking inevitable.
Therefore, with the Baggies not able to guarantee Premier League football next season, the defender could be swayed to joining Liverpool with the opportunity to stay in the top-flight being too good to reject.
Reds fans, thoughts?
