The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed to see their side’s reported move for Nabil Fekir fall short. The attacking midfielder enjoyed a brilliant season last time out, and he would, undoubtedly, be a difficult man to replace.
Whether Liverpool have lined up alternatives is unclear, and it remains to be seen whether they will sign someone instead.
That’s n0t going to stop the speculation, though, and one man that some Liverpool fans would seemingly like to see at Anfield instead is Crystal Palace’s Wilfred Zaha.
We recently asked Liverpool fans whether they’d like to see Zaha at Anfield in place of Fekir, and 59% of fans responded stating they would. Conversely, 41% of fans don’t view the Ivorian as a, particularly enticing target.
Fekir is, obviously, a much bigger name than Zaha – but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the Ivorian would be worse.
The one main advantage that he has over the Ligue 1 man is his Premier League experience. Liverpool wouldn’t have any major concerns regarding his ability to adjust, given that he’s been one of England’s best performing players for a few years now.
Whether he’d be a cheaper option is unclear, but he’d certainly be an option of little risk. That, likely, is what is appealing to Liverpool fans ahead of Fekir’s undeniable quality.
