Forget Lawro – Here’s Today’s Predictions!

Well yesterday threw up some fascinating results.

The collapse of Blackburn [who I might remind Mr & Mrs Venky were 10th when they fired Big Sam], Manchester City scrapped their way past a flailing Wigan, Birmingham did the old posy victory hangover sketch at West Brom. Arsenal lost two points against Sunderland and Everton did the business at St James’ Park.

The result of the day was undoubtedly West Ham thumping Stoke 3-0. The introduction of two footballers to the West Ham side has worked wonders. It must have Avram Grant wondering at what might have been… and so to today.

Liverpool vs Manchester United

In case you hadn’t worked it out, this is massive. After all the flapping and fiascos at Anfield that dominated the early part of their season are now pretty much behaving like a proper football club again. Three masterstrokes. The binning of Uncle Roy. The binning of sulky pants Torres. And the fans playing a positive role and being allowed to just concentrate on supporting, opposed to protesting.

Sir Alex appears to have run out of friends in the media if you believe even 10% of what you read and his whining about officials has gone down like a bacon sandwich at a Jewish wedding. The United manager is refusing to talk to anyone and it is rumoured he orders in restaurants using ESP.

Will Carrol feature? Will Rooney assault anyone? Prediction 2-2 @ 14/1.

Wolves vs Tottenham

Spurs travel fresh from a mini break in Dubai. Nice work if you can get it. Harry Redknapp is being tipped by the the world and his wife for the England job. Mick McCarthy by contrast is being equally favoured to be one of the three managers who’ll be managing in the Championship next season.

Tottenham will have half an eye on their Champions League tie with AC Milan next week and Wolves will have half an eye on the video of Spurs getting humiliated at Blackpool the other week. Prediction: 1-3 @ 20/1.

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
