Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are looking towards the future under Jurgen Klopp, and it’s certainly looking good as he continues to plan for the long-term.
Klopp has had a couple of years at Liverpool now and, this season more than any, we’re starting to see all the fruits of the labour put in. Liverpool are an explosive attacking force that could certainly match any team in Europe on their day, according to our barman, and excitement certainly is palpable on Merseyside right now.
The reports breaking around the bar this week are that Klopp is looking to tie down Sadio Mane to a longer-term contract following his return to form of late. Indeed, this may be a good move to ward off any interest, however many of the regulars in the bar think Klopp should be talking to others who they deem more of a priority.
With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at TWO players he thinks should be getting a new deal before the former Southampton man…
Nathaniel Clyne

Clyne is Klopp’s number one right-back when he is fully fit. With the England right-back still only 26 and having just over two years left on his contract, a smart move would be to tie down one-fourth of the defensive quartet Klopp should be looking at keeping over the years to come.
Clyne is yet to reach his full potential and with many years in the bank still to give, he could be Liverpool’s full-back for many years to come.
Roberto Firmino

The Brazilian goal-getter is a very important part of the Anfield make-up under Klopp. Indeed, he has a natural way of grabbing goals and, flanked either side by Mane and Salah, the trio can cause headaches galore. Those three, like many of our fans in the bar, will be hoping to bring a lot of trophies to the club.
Firmino is similar to Clyne has they both have just over two years left to run, but with the form of the Brazilian, it would be a good move to ward off any kind of interest by getting the striker to fully commit his future to the club.
