4 players Wenger is surely set to axe at Arsenal immediately – Agreed?

Arsene Wenger is set for another season at Arsenal and the Gunners fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate to see their side lift the Premier League trophy once again.

The North London outfit finished second and ten points behind eventual champions Leicester City last season, in a campaign that saw many back the Gunners to take the title for much of the season.

Now the club are no doubt looking for that extra bit of quality to get them one place higher in the division.

Arsene Wenger has been at the club long enough to surely be able to identify where he needs to strengthen and with the signing of Granit Xhaka for example this summer, he seems to be acting on this too.

Wenger knows that patience may be running out with even his most ardent of supporters if he doesn’t get it right but to make room for potential new signings it’s time to get rid of some of the players who are underperforming.

Our landlord certainly thinks so and this FOUR could be the first lot to leave this summer…

Theo Walcott

The expectation surrounding Walcott has long since dissipated and it’s place is a real sense of despair.

The England international looks low on confidence at the club and it could be time for him to move on to pastures new where he may still be able to salvage his career.

The former Southampton player is a long way a way from playing for England again and only leaving Arsenal would probably give him that chance once more.

Olivier Giroud

Giroud 5

If Arsenal want to win the league they need a striker that performs well more consistently than Olivier Giroud.

The Frenchman looks good some games but then goes off the boil and doesn’t score for games on end, much to the dismay of the Emirates faithful.

He’s also getting on in his career now and Wenger must be looking for a younger, better alternative.

Olivier Giroud’s days at Arsenal are surely numbered.

Kieran Gibbs

Gibbs

Gibbs is a solid player but can be exploited down the left side.

Unfortunately for Arsenal, he’s not the type of left back that helps win the league and Arsene Wenger could be tempted to look for an upgrade this summer.

An academy graduate, the England man had a bright future mapped out for him by many at the start of his career but he could be forced to try and continue on that journey somewhere else.

Per Mertesacker

Wenger needs another centre-half of world class standing. Mertesacker is in the twilight of his career and the Gunners boss can’t keep relying on him to play week in week out.

The big German is only going to get slower. To be fair, he wasn’t quick to start with, leaving the club in danger at the back once again.

A new centre-half is a must for Arsenal this Summer and that means Mertesacker could be looking for a new club.
