Since Frank Lampard’s Chelsea departure in 2014, the Blues have dearly lacked a player of his tenacity in the heart of the midfield.
He has never really been replaced, and his recent talk of a Chelsea return has got the Blues fans in the Tavern very excited…
…but – they’re about to be a little bit disappointed.
Whilst Lampard has been talking up an eventual Chelsea return, he has revealed that it will only be as a manager.
Speaking to Soccer AM (via Sky Sports), Lampard said :”As soon as I finish playing I’d like to take it [management] up”
He added: “It’s hard though because I only want the Chelsea job.”
There is no doubting that Frank Lampard will make a top manager – but the Blues fans were really hoping that he might pop back to the club for a spell in the midfield.
They could really do with him!
We’re sure they’d take a John Terry – Frank Lampard management combination in a few years time, though…
