Liverpool have been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season as they continue to work towards securing the Premier League title.
The Reds won’t accept anything less than a title challenge in the current campaign as they currently find themselves unbeaten after 12 games, with Manchester City well within their reach.
However, things haven’t all been positive for the club in the last year or so, with problems off the field halting their progress at times and really causing them trouble. Indeed, FSG hasn’t always made the best of decisions, with a couple of transfer related problems resulting in a lack of silverware in recent times.
With that in mind, it’s obvious that FSG has made these TWO mistakes…
FAILURE TO SIGN A GOALKEEPER IN JANUARY
Liverpool failed to bring in a goalkeeper during the January transfer window, despite witnessing inconsistencies on the field from the likes of Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.
Jurgen Klopp looked at rotating his goalkeepers around for certain matches in certain competitions, but this didn’t work out as neither shot-stopper could really ensure any consistency.
The Belgian suffered a rough patch in-between the sticks which gifted Karius a regular spot in the starting lineup, but this proved to be a huge mistake as he single-handedly cost his side in the Champions League final.
FAILURE TO FACILITATE DOMINIC SOLANKE
Dominic Solanke has the potential to become a future star of the game, but his development has been muted during his time at Liverpool due to a lack of game time. And,the Reds failed to offload him during the summer transfer window after a rather disappointing first season at the club, which has halted his progress even more.
Liverpool could have been looking forward to welcoming the 21-year-old back to the club with a successful loan spell under his belt in the summer, but instead of gifting him a loan move the Reds have just watched him waste away.
