Fulham line up £3M bid for Arsenal outcast Rosický

Fulham are preparing a bid of around £3 million for 31 year old Czech midfielder Tomáš Rosický, according to The Daily Express.

Rosický has fallen well down the pecking order at The Emirates, with Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song all being preferred options. With Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby closing in on fitness, first team opportunities are looking few and far between for the attacking midfielder.

Martin Jol is looking to offer Rosický an escape route to Southwest London. Jol is also said to be interested in West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie, although the club have already stated categoically he is not for sale.

It is unlikely many Arsenal fans will be sad to see Rosický leave, having endured five largely uninspiring seasons since joining from Borussia Dortmund back in 2006.

Wenger signed the midfield maestro after some eye-catching and very impressive performances for both club and country. During his time in England however, his career has regressed.

This has been in part, due to a string of terrible injuries. A decent opening season saw him score six goals and provide four assists. His second season continued in the same vein until his injury nightmare began.

A serious hamstring injury saw him spend eighteen months on the sidelines, including the whole of the 2008-2009 campaign.

Since then, he has been unable to establish a regular first team place. Although this has been in part due to some extremely talented Arsenal midfielders keeping him on the bench, Rosický simply hasn’t looked like the same player following his injury woes.

Rosický may have a couple of good seasons left in him, but he would be better served spending them where he’s guaranteed a start every week. Fulham could be the perfect place to end his career.

Although he’s looking a bit crocked these days, at one stage in his career Rosický looked like a world beater.  It would be lovely to see him rediscover this sort of form again.
