Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas both started Leeds’ Under-23 match

Leeds United have had to deal with a number of things this season, however, they do not appear to have affected their chances of winning promotion to the Premier League.

One of the main things Marcelo Bielsa’s side have had to deal with throughout the whole campaign is the number of injuries he has had in his first-team.

A number of his key players have had to spend time on the sidelines during the season, however, it appears that two of his players could be on the verge of making a return to the team.

According to the club’s official Twitter account, both Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas started the Developmental side’s match against Nottingham Forest on Friday night.

Berardi has been out on the sidelines since October with a torn hamstring whilst Douglas has been in the treatment room for the majority of 2019 with a knock.

The Verdict:

The news that both Berardi and Douglas were able to start the match against Nottingham Forest on Friday will come as great news for Bielsa and Leeds for the final stretch of the Championship season.

Although both men have not had a huge role in the campaign so far, both have the quality to make a difference and will likely play important roles in ensuring The Whites are playing Premier League football at Elland Road.

Bielsa’s side will host Bolton Wanderers tomorrow, which will likely be too early for either of the pair to return, before tough encounters with Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion to follow.
