Rangers fans here in the Tavern will be hoping for a better season next time round, as they have failed to make the most of any positive positions in the current campaign. 

Of course, supporters will be hoping that Steven Gerrard can bring about positive change, as former manager Graeme Murty struggled to ensure consistency towards the end of the regular season.

Sadly, the Bluenoses have failed to challenge bitter rivals Celtic in the current campaign, and they even saw the Hoops lift the Scottish Premiership trophy after losing 5-0 at Celtic Park.

So, a number of changes will need to be made over the course of the summer transfer window, as a couple of the club’s first-team members may be fearing for their lives at Ibrox. And, with Steven Gerrard possibly looking to bring a number of players in at the end of the season, supporters can expect some movement going the other way.

Without further ado, these TWO Rangers players are to blame for the club’s awful season…

Bruno Alves

The Portuguese veteran should probably think about retiring after a woeful season in the Scottish Premiership. Indeed, the central defender has struggled to come to terms with Scottish football, as mistakes are ever-present in his game and he really has lacked quality.

Sadly, age is becoming a factor and this is evident on the field, as pacey attackers often blitz passed the 36-year-old with ease.

So, a summer transfer window exit is looking extremely likely after a slightly worrying campaign, as he looks to be punching well above his weight in the top-tier of Scottish football.

Russell Martin

Russell Martin joined on loan from Norwich City in the January transfer window and made a promising start to life at Ibrox. But, his performances have gotten worse and worse as time has gone on, as his age is beginning to show on the field and mistakes are ever-present.

Worryingly, the 32-year-old has been one of the main reasons behind the club’s awful season, so a permanent move in the summer transfer window may now be completely out of the question, as Steven Gerrard will want to get rid of any underperforming players before the start of next season.
