Reds fans here in the Tavern are disappointed with the players’ performances over the past couple of matches, as complacency sets in.
Of course, any unbeaten streak is enjoyable for a club, but it’s the manner of which they’ve kept their streak alive over the past two games that’s causing fans to lose faith in their side, after 2 successive draws against sides that they should easily have punished.
A player who many supporters here believe has become complacent this season is Georginio Wijnaldum, with the quality of his time on Tyneside yet to shine through for the Dutch midfielder. This is something that many feel is down to him failing to adjust from being the best player in a team, to now being a player surrounded by superior talent.
Indeed, after scoring 6 and assisting 11 goals last season in his first season at Anfield, he’s only managed the 1 goal in the 24 appearances so far, which just goes to highlight the drop in performance from the midfielder, as he continues to struggle under Jurgen Klopp’s new rotation regime.
However, after being brought back into the side to face West Bromwich Albion mid-week, he’s proud to have brought up a landmark in his Liverpool career as he took to his personal Twitter account, to share a mixture of disappointment and joy.
Disappointed result yesterday, but I’m Very proud to have played my 50th league game for this amazing club . #YNWA pic.twitter.com/c9tBi03wCb

Focus on how many goals, not how many games you play. Scoring goals will take you far in your career, celebrating games played limits you. Take your chances, #Gals counts in football. Gerrard knows this; ask him how to.
