Rangers: Gers remain keen on Jakub Jankto

According to Sky Italia (via The Scottish Sun), Glasgow Rangers remain interested in signing Jakub Jankto from Sampdoria.

Jankto still on radar

Whilst there was little speculation during the summer, Fabrizio Romano revealed the Ibrox outfit were very close to signing the 24 year-old. In the end, though, no deal went through.

It seems the Gers are still interested in completing a deal in the future however, according to this latest report.

Talented player

Signing Jankto would be some coup for Steven Gerrard and co. Currently valued at £8.55m (Transfermarkt), the 27-time Czech Republic international has already made 125 appearances in Serie A, scoring 13 goals and providing 15 assists. He has made a very positive start to this campaign, scoring twice and providing an assists in five outings, and he has been praised in the past by Ballon d’Or-winning compatriot Pavel Nedved.

Juventus, where Nedved is vice-chairman, are even said to have been interested in the midfielder – this is a player with a strong pedigree. In the summer, Gerrard managed to bring in Bongani Zungu in a position where he already has a lot of options. However, the signature of Jankto would be a statement of intent. It remains to be seen whether Sampdoria and the 54-time Scottish champions can strike a deal in the future.
