Wednesday was a huge day for Glasgow Rangers – they released their brand new home kit for the 2020/21 season.
The sale of any new shirt is always a big moment, and often indicates the first look towards a new campaign, but this time around it was extra special for the Gers – this is the first one made by their new manufacturing partner, Castore. The deal was secured a couple of months ago, and was said to be worth £25m over five years.

For the Liverpool-based company, their reputation was on the line – a poor offering could make or break their reputation with the club’s supporters. Fortunately for them, the initial sales were rather incredible, with the 50,000 shirts available on pre-order sold out in less than 48 hours.

This news was shared on Twitter, and it is fair to say that the fans are absolutely delighted with the update. One tongue in cheek suggested that the money made should ‘keep the lights on until Christmas’ – perhaps alluding to the financial uncertainty across the world at the moment due to the ongoing pandemic – whilst another labelled the sales ‘phenomenal’.

This and 40,000 season tickets for a stadium they’ve no guarantee of getting into any time soon. Huge vote of confidence in SG and the players. https://t.co/t7GVFhpvoH

Ridiculous to sell that at any time but during these uncertain times is just unbelievable.

I fully agree here, Castore have played a blinder with their choice of team and fan base for their first venture, soon as they his the premiership they’ll be unrivalled I think.
