Late in June, Haris Belkebla was linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers. There has now been an update on the player’s future as it looks like the Ibrox club will miss out on the midfielder.
According to L’Equipe, Belkebla is hopeful that he will be signing a contract extension with Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois 29, who he joined in July 2018.

The Gers had made an offer for the player, who has made one appearance for Algeria, but it looks like he is happy to stay in France.
The 26 year-old looks a very capable defensive midfielder, as he played 23 times in Ligue 1 last season, managing 1.9 tackles and 2.3 interceptions a game, per WhoScored, which highlights how good he is at breaking up opposition attacks.
Glasgow Rangers should be a bit gutted that it looks like he will stay where he is, however it is not the end of the world, and with a possible £20 million coming in for Alfredo Morelos, they might be able to look at players in the midfield who are possibly better than Belkebla, who is valued at £1.08 million, as they will be able to spend a bit more than they probably thought they would.
Steven Gerrard’s side actually kept the joint most clean sheets in the division with 14, so the club maybe don’t need to be worried about the defensive side of their game and therefore the signing isn’t as big of a loss as some may think.
