Glasgow Rangers: Fans wax lyrical about George Edmundson

Glasgow Rangers continued their promising pre-season form with an impressive 2-0 win over Lyon on Thursday.

The Gers had already beaten Hamilton 2-1 before travelling to France to take part in the Veolia Trophy – Celtic, Les Gones and Nice are the other three sides competing in the competition. It was the Gers who kicked off the tournament against Lyon, and the win will have done Steven Gerrard and his side the world of good. The first strike was an own goal from Marcelo, before Ianis Hagi bagged the second – Ryan Kent was sent off, which made things difficult for the 54-time Scottish champions, but they passed the test with ease.

In terms of a Man of the Match, it appears the Gers supporters were delighted with the display of George Edmundson at centre-back – with Nikola Katic out injured for the foreseeable future, this display may have put the £495,000-valued 22-year-old (as per Transfermarkt) in prime position for a starting spot.

The fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the former Oldham man, with one even labelling his as a potential “future captain.”
