A number of Glasgow Rangers fans have welcomed reports that Jordan Jones looks set to leave the club after being given a clear message from Steven Gerrard about his future at Ibrox.
The Daily Record reported that the manager has told the 25-year-old winger that he is free to leave the ‘Gers, as he is not part of the Liverpudlian’s plans for the upcoming season.

It was only last summer that Jones arrived at Ibrox on a free transfer from Kilmarnock but, in the derby defeat to Celtic in September, he injured his knee in lunging in on Moritz Bauer, a tackle for which he was sent off.
He was sidelined for more than four months and, upon coming back, started only the Scottish Cup tie against Stranraer and made three brief substitute appearances (as per TransferMarkt). He was also recently demoted to the B team for their pre-season friendly against Dundee United, a clear sign that Gerrard considers him a peripheral squad member at best.

The Northern Ireland international has failed to score in 14 appearances for the Light Blues, managing just two assists in his time at the club (as per TransferMarkt).
These ‘Gers fans on Twitter have welcomed the news of his likely departure, with one fan calling for sporting director Ross Wilson to be given a knighthood if the Ibrox club are able to yield a seven-figure transfer fee from selling him amid reported interest from Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Stoke:
If we manage to punt Jordan Jones for 2 million then Ross Wilson deserves a knighthood

Jordan Jones has done absolutely nothing in a Rangers jersey except that cross to Morelos against Legia. He also is a typical winger that needs space to run into which he will never get here. Another one who isn’t contributing out the door is good news to me.

This moment ended Jordan Jones Rangers career. Utter stupidity. His behaviour whilst at the club shows he isn’t fit to be a Rangers player. https://t.co/uXc71gm6Ql

I feel sorry for Jordan Jones tonight but he has only himself to blame. You get one chance at a club like Rangers and he has blown it with poor performances and attitude. I hope he learns from this and moves on in the right direction now.

Jordan Jones leaving, not surprised in terms of Rangers standards he wouldn’t have got in some reserve teams, he is an ok player in our league but not outstanding and someone who is gonna give you 15-20 goals and assists every season

Jordan Jones was given a chance everyday in training.
