Glasgow Rangers: Fans hammer Cedric Itten vs Red Imps

Glasgow Rangers are safely into the third round of Europa League qualifying after they beat Lincoln Red Imps on Thursday.

The Gers travelled to Gibraltar to face the Imps, and it was a fixture that could have caused them problems due to their plastic pitch. However, in the end they won with relative ease, managing a 5-0 victory thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos – twice.

The absence of one man on the scoresheet will have worried Steven Gerrard, though. Cedric Itten was recently signed for £3m after scoring 19 goals in 34 league games for St. Gallen last term, but so far he has failed to score even once in five appearances for the Ibrox outfit. When named in the starting XI on Thursday, it was a fantastic opportunity to get himself up and running, but it was one he failed to take.

The fans were far from happy with his display, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts – one fan even called him a “passenger” whilst another suggested he was worse than ex-Ger Eros Grezda, who scored just twice in 17 appearances whilst at Ibrox.
