Glasgow Rangers: Foderingham set to complete move to Sheffield United

According to The Daily Record, ex-Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is close to completing a move to Sheffield United.

Foderingham was released by the Gers following the suspension and premature end to the season.

Now, it appears he is close to a move to the Blades, who are currently fighting for a Europa League spot in the Premier League.

This is a truly bizarre transfer – it is not what anyone would have expected. Whilst he made 130 appearances during his first three campaigns at Ibrox, he featured just 13 times since Steven Gerrard stepped into the hot-seat in the blue side of Glasgow, with Allan McGregor quickly becoming the former Liverpool captain’s number one choice between the sticks.

Now, the £360,000-valued 29-year-old – as per Transfermarkt – could be about to make the switch to a top-half Premier League side, and could even be involved in European football next term. Whether he would be the number one choice is a different question, but he is still clearly an interesting option for Chris Wilder.

Have Ross Wilson and Gerrard made a mistake? Only time will tell.
