Glasgow Rangers: Gers could use Jordan Jones as Daniel Johnson makeweight

According to The Scottish Sun, Glasgow Rangers could use Jordan Jones as a makeweight in their attempts to sign Daniel Johnson from Preston North End.

The Gers have been heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old midfielder.

However, the Lilywhites have reportedly demanded more than £4m for the Jamaican. As such, the Ibrox outfit could offer Jones, in whom QPR are also interested, as part of the deal.

This is a deal that makes sense. Jones has not played a minute for Steven Gerrard’s side so far this campaign, and has even been told he can leave the club. Having said that, he is a Northern Ireland international, and as such he could be an interesting addition for Preston.

If the Gers were able to get £2.52m-valued Johnson – as per Transfermarkt – for a discounted price as a result of making Jones part of the deal, it would be fantastic business from Ross Wilson and co. That would show a brilliant bit of flexibility. It remains to be seen where Johnson, and indeed Jones, end up though.
