Glasgow Rangers: Gers eye Christian Maghoma

According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers are interested in taking Christian Maghoma to Ibrox ahead of the 20/21 season.

The 22-year-old used to be on the books of Tottenham Hotspur, but he never made an appearance for the club before moving to Polish side Arka Gdynia.

Now, it is being reported the Gers are interested in taking the centre-back to Ibrox after he became a free agent.

There is no doubt that Maghoma is a physical specimen – he stands at 6ft 5in, which obviously means he has the ability to overpower most strikers wherever he plays. Across two seasons he played 39 games for the Ekstraklasa team, and played five more matches during the 2019/20 campaign compared to the 2018/19 term.

Steven Gerrard could now be in the market for a new defender following the news that Nikola Katic will be out for the foreseeable future with a cruciate ligament injury. The Croatian will return at some point, which means that Gerrard does not need to spend a fortune on replacing him, but in the short-term they need somewhere who can step straight into the side.

As such, Maghoma represents a cheap, no-risk option given he is available on a free. Bringing in the DR Congo international will solve one of the 54-time Scottish champions’ problems rather easily.
