As per The Daily Record, Ross McCrorie is on the verge of completing a shock move from Glasgow Rangers to Aberdeen.

22-year-old McCrorie had been heavily linked with a move to Hibernian, with the Edinburgh outfit having made two bids to sign him.

However, it now looks as if the Dons are in pole position, with the Scot close to a loan switch to Pittodrie. There is also said to be a six-figure purchase option in the deal.

McCrorie’s future at Ibrox has looked in doubt for a while. He spent last season on loan at Portsmouth and Steven Gerrard recently admitted that, as long as the 54-time Scottish champions receive a bid that suits them, he will be on his way out of the door this summer.

The youngster had previously been called a future captain by his boss, and he has plenty of versatility – he can play in midfield and also at right-back. This should be a promising signing for Aberdeen, but for the Gers it should be disappointing to see a player with so much potential move on after just 55 appearances for the club.
