Glasgow Rangers: Preston want over £4m for Daniel Johnson

According to The Daily Record, Preston North End will demand more than £4m for Glasgow Rangers target Daniel Johnson.

There had been reports that a deal for the 27-year-old had been agreed, but that was wide of the mark, with Preston releasing a statement denouncing the way certain clubs have done their business.

Now, it is being said that they will demand more than double the £2m fee which the Gers were said to be offering.

The Gers are looking for another creative midfielder, it would appear – that is what club legend Brian Laudrup thinks they need, anyway – and Johnson could be the man to fill that void. He scored 12 and provided eight assists in the Championship last term, and with the Lilywhites failing to win promotion from the second tier of English football last season, he may well be eager to move on.

£4m would be a significant fee, however – is he really worth that much? After all, this is a player who is yet to play a single minute of top-tier football throughout his career. This is a transfer that could go one of two ways – it remains to be seen whether the Gers take a gamble on the Jamaican.
