Glasgow Rangers: Transfer target Kemar Roofe earmarked for sale by Anderlecht

Glasgow Rangers have been given a boost in their reported pursuit of Kemar Roofe as it was revealed by La Derniere Heure (via Daily Record) that the striker is available for sale.

Roofe’s current club Anderlecht are said to be looking to make serious savings this summer.

As such, the 27-year-old has been earmarked for sale by the Brussels-based outfit and the ‘Gers could well be in a position to make a move given their previous rumoured interest (The Scottish Sun via reports in Belgium).

There had been some previous rumours that the former Leeds United man had even been spotted in Glasgow for a medical – Roofe moved quickly to quash those claims, saying that there was no indication that he would be leaving Belgium and that he would be staying until told otherwise.

However, if his club are now willing to move him on, it may give Steven Gerrard and co a chance of taking him to Ibrox, and they should certainly look at signing him. Valued at €6m (£5.5m) by Anderlecht, he has seven goals in 16 games for the Belgian club and managed 14 in 32 Championship matches for Leeds during the 2018/19 season.

It remains to be seen whether the ‘Gers make a concrete move but this latest development suggests that the door could at least be open.
