Glasgow Rangers: Fans love update on Bongani Zungu

Glasgow Rangers have already made their first dips into the transfer market as they look to build a squad capable of winning their first major piece of silverware since 2011.

The Gers have signed Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin already, and Steven Gerrard is unlikely to stop there – if the Ibrox outfit are to close the 13-point gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, they will need to improve in other areas as well.

Fortunately, the 54-time Scottish champions appear to be closing in on their fourth signing of the summer. According to Joe Crann, the Gers are close to agreeing a fee of €4m (£3.6m) with Amiens for defensive midfielder Bongani Zungu – the player reportedly wants to move to Glasgow to play for Gerrard and appear in the Europa League.

This news has attracted the attention of the Gers supporters, and it is fair to say they are delighted with the update – one fan even called him “Yaya Toure with pace”. Indeed like the Ivorian, Zungu is a central midfield player who can operate in both attacking and defensive roles.
