The Toffees are in the Transfer Tavern tonight and after a wildly successful transfer window so far, they’ll be wondering if Koeman has any more plans.

A few weeks ago, Wayne Rooney returned to his boyhood club Everton after 13 trophy-laden years away at Manchester United.

During his time at Manchester United, the former captain of the Red Devils won countless trophies and played with some of the greatest players in the world.

Whilst Everton can’t offer the same star power as Man U could, Ronald Koeman has been on quite the spending spree during this summer’s transfer window.

Rooney has been just a small part of the Dutch managers business so far and he has shown no signs of slowing down.

There are a few of Rooney’s former teammates who also no longer fit into Jose Mourinho’s set up and could be open to a change of club.

With that being said here are two of Wayne Rooney’s former teammates that Everton should make a move for.

Chris Smalling

Rumours are suggesting that Chris Smalling’s time at Manchester United is up.

West Brom have emerged as the front runners for the centre-back’s signature but Everton could swoop in whilst it is still up in the air.

Having recently just signed Michael Keane from Burnley, Smalling would make up a great partnership with him.

This could mean good things for both Everton and the national side.

This transfer seems like it could really happen so Koeman should at least enquire about the price Jose Mourinho would want for the player.

Anthony Martial

Earlier this month Manchester United reportedly put a £30 million asking price on Anthony Martial.

Despite the fact that rumours linking him with a move away from the club have now died down, there is no saying Mourinho wouldn’t listen if the right bid was put in.

Koeman has clearly been given the green light to spend big this summer and what a statement of intent it would be to bring the French superstar to Goodison Park.
