Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are just happy to be pulling away from the relegation zone after a disastrous start to the season.

Everton are on to their third manager of the season so far and we’re only three-quarters of the way through what was supposed to be a wonderful campaign for the upwardly mobile Toffees. At the start of the season, the Blues were tipped to be top six, possibly top four contenders, though that’s not how things worked out.

They spent big and with that, the regular Blues in the bar raised their expectations under Ronald Koeman.

Nothing could have been further from the expectations as they flirted with relegation far too close for many of the punters’ likings. Indeed, after David Unsworth’s short and largely unsuccessful interim period, Big Sam came to the rescue and drove the Toffees upwards in the league.

As the team sit in mid-table, our landlord takes a look at which TWO players should jump ship now before the start of next season…

Ashley Williams

The former Swansea defender is having a time of it at Goodison Park and many of the fans here in the bar reckon that he’s one of the worst defenders the clubs seen in a long time. He doesn’t cut the same authoritative figure he did at Swansea and largely aids towards the club’s troubles this season.

To save his own career before he’s carted out, a move for the centre-back maybe a smart move. If Swansea stay up, perhaps a return to the Liberty Stadium would be a good move.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Having come from Man United a couple of seasons ago, the midfielder hasn’t looked the same player he was during his sunny days with Southampton. Alongside Williams, Schneiderlin has come in for some harsh criticism of his own fans and recently being booed as he came on late in a game.

He’s looked disinterested and lacking in motivation so maybe a move away in the summer will reinvigorate the Frenchman and kickstart his career once again.
