Golovin chooses Arsenal, fail to appoint Sarri: Chelsea’s nightmare scenario before new season

Chelsea supporters were less than impressed with the way their side finished the last campaign as they missed out on a Champions League spot.

Antonio Conte struggled to ensure consistency for large parts of the last campaign as the Blues always found themselves up against it. But, with plenty of uncertainties surrounding the Italian’s future, there may be a managerial change in the offing.

Although, with only a few weeks left until the start of the new campaign, the Blues are running out of time to get a couple of major deals done.

Indeed, Chelsea still need to bring in an attacking player and could do with a new manager at the helm, so they could find themselves on the receiving end of another disappointing season if they don’t get a move on.

So, here’s TWO things that could cause for concern…

Arsenal are the latest team to be linked with a move for Russia’s World Cup star Aleksandr Golovin this summer.

The attacker has been on the Blues’ radar for some time now, but losing out to London rivals Arsenal could cause for a pandemonium at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are in desperate need of an attacking player that can help lighten the load on Eden Hazard’s shoulders. And, having witnessed the Russian’s quality at the World Cup this summer and domestically last season, it’s safe to say that he’s one of the hottest topics in world football right now.

Chelsea have been linked with appointing Maurizio Sarri for some time now, but things have gone worryingly quiet in recent times as Antonio Conte seems to have come back into the picture.

The 59-year-old has reportedly warned Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich that he won’t join if they sell either Willian or Eden Hazard this summer, so doubts are starting to creep in.

Sarri has the backing of pretty much every single supporter at Stamford Bridge, so failing to lure him to the English capital would not only upset fans, but it would also put them in a worrying position.
