Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp managed several great players during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
One of those was Mario Gotze. It was the 52-year-old who gave the midfielder his debut for Die Schwarzgelben, and he turned out to be a stunning player for him. During the 2012/13 campaign, for example, during which BVB reached the final of the Champions League, Gotze, scored 16 and assisted 20 strikes in all competitions.

He then moved to Bayern for €37m (£31.5m), and went on to score the winner in the World Cup final for Germany in 2014. However, health issues after that are one of a number reasons why his stock has decreased and he is now back at Dortmund – he will be leaving on a free transfer in the summer.
According to Christian Falk, Jurgen Klopp wanted £9.85m-valued Gotze – as per Transfermarkt – at Liverpool, and he even visited the training ground. However, his girlfriend did not want to live in the city, and so the move never materialised.

Falk’s comments have been picked up on by the Reds supporters, and it is fair to say they are rather happy he hasn’t made the move to Anfield. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
