For the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern, a few major changes are needed at the Etihad this summer…
The Citizens have struggled to keep pace with Chelsea this season, with Antonio Conte’s side dominating the Premier League – and whilst they are expected to come back into the race next season, Guardiola has a lot of work to do.
With an ageing squad and having underachieved this season, a few new, exciting signings are definitely expected this summer. It isn’t all bad news, though, and whilst Chelsea have led the race in the Premier League – it seems as though Guardiola is leading the Blues in pursuit of a potential summer target.
According to the Sun, Man City are confident of securing a deal for Real Madrid man Isco – with the Citizens reportedly leading the likes of Chelsea and Juventus in the race.
Undoubtedly one of Spain’s most talented players, Isco has struggled to break into the Real Madrid side ahead of the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo – and so he could look to seek an exit this summer.
A departure might also make sense for Madrid, with Los Blancos likely to secure a pretty hefty transfer fee for the impressive midfielder.
Our landlord is questioning where he might fit into the first team, though, with the Spaniard likely to face similar problems breaking into the side ahead of David Silva, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling this season. However, with Silva already 31-years-old, he has suggested that Isco could be seen as a long-term replacement.
Given that Chelsea don’t utilise a number 10 anymore, Isco likely wouldn’t fit into the side as naturally as he would at Man City.
Isco has scored 6 goals and secured 5 assists so far this season.
