Guardiola made a huge transfer mistake not bringing these 2 stars to Man City in January

Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to add another Premier League title to their list of recent trophies.

Under Pep Guardiola, City have been a phenomenon this season with the attacking and unique style of play, however, if the season is to get better, Guardiola has to reinforce that backline and he will be gutted he didn’t push more for players.

With many competitions still in the Blues sight, a full squad of varying players all ready to jump into a system that is a recipe for success is a must for the Spaniard. Our barman thinks even with the 12 point gap between local and closet rivals Man Utd, the Citizens can’t afford to ease up on a title race that has been a one-way affair since the start.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at two players he feels would have made a huge difference in this already amazing City squad…

Jonny Evans

The West Brom defender has been long linked with a move to City over the past few windows, though with his background full of the red half of Manchester, it wouldn’t be a popular move with the Reds in the bar. However, Evans has proved himself to be one of the Premier League’s most consistent players over recent seasons and it might not have been a bad move for Pep.

He has a proven pedigree at the top and has the much needed Premier League winning experience Pep might have leaned on.

Alexis Sanchez

Having been strongly linked with a move to the Etihad for months, the fact Alexis Sanchez ultimately ended up at arch-rivals Manchester United may come back to haunt Guardiola for years. While the Chilean is probably being paid far too much at Old Trafford, it’s hard to doubt his quality.

The fact Jose Mourinho can enjoy such quality is a major blow for City, despite their current array of attacking talent.
