Manchester City fans are back in the Transfer Tavern following last weekend’s trip to the Brighton seaside.

Pep Guardiola’s men looked comfortable as they bought a 2-0 victory back to the blue half of Manchester to get their season up and running in a game which saw some good signs occur for a City side that will fancy themselves to be in with a chance of winning the title this season.

One positive highlighted by our landlord was the partnership between Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus for Pep Guardiola’s side and with Aguero getting a goal, it may well be a partnership we see a lot more as the season progresses which may well terrify Premier League defences all season.

The next defence that will have to deal with the duo is Everton and Ronald Koeman will see this fixture as a great test for his Everton side which he has really strengthened this summer. The new look Everton side may well cause Guardiola to alter his plans and our landlord believes that the City boss has some players waiting in the wings ready to take their chance.

This is something he has really thought long and hard about after hours, so much so that he is willing to share his thoughts on who Guardiola should give a chance to this Monday.

Yaya Touré

After giving the veteran midfielder a new one year deal in the summer, our landlord believes that Guardiola should give the experienced Touré a run out against Everton on Monday.

The City fans agree and would like to see their midfield match up better to the Toffee midfield which was so over ran the last time these sides met, in a 4-0 win for Everton at Goodison Park.

They really believe that the pairing of Touré and Fernandinho is what is needed to quash the threat of Everton’s midfield which features the dangerous, Davy Klaasen who will look to pull the strings come Monday.

Eliaquim Mangala

Shipped out to Valencia last season, the City fans believe now is the time for Mangala to really prove his worth to Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard has obviously picked out Vincent Kompany, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi as his back three for this season but with rotation almost inevitable, it may be worth giving Mangala some minutes in an early season fixture such as this to prove himself to the City faithful.
