Over the last few years, we have begun to see a shift in Manchester City’s transfer policy.

The days of paying premium fees for players at their peak seem to be fading, with the Citizens much more content on investing in stars in the future like John Stones and Leroy Sane.

Aside from that, players like Gabriel Jesus, Marlos Moreno and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been bought and loaned out, with the former and latter particularly impressing at their respective clubs.

The owners will also be hoping to see what type of returns their £200m training complex will bring them, with homegrown talents like Pablo Maffeo, Tosin Adarabioyo and Aleix Garcia ready to break into the first team soon.

They have also had success with African players after Yaya Toure helped them to two Premier League titles.

This season young Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has also impressed with eight goals in his last 11 games.

Young African talent and the infrastructure at the Etihad seems a match made in heaven.

KINGSLEY MICHAEL

The first player Manchester City have allegedly already been taking a look at is another Nigerian – Kinglsey Michael.

The 17-year-old currently plays in his native country for Football College Abuja.

The tough-tackling midfielder has been likened to former-Chelsea and Real Madrid anchor man and may be the perfect person to sit in front of a new-look Guardiola defence.

City have already sent representatives to Nigeria to watch Michaels, who has also been interesting Chelsea and West Ham United.

SEKOU KOITA

Mali is producing a good crop of young talents at the moment, with Sekou Koita arguably top of the list.

Koita has been labelled a special talent by his club USC Kita and the Etihad may well be the perfect place to learn the trade.

The attacker would have a tough time displacing Kelechi Iheanacho who seems to heir to the City striking role but – luckily for both players – Keita operates best behind the striker, suggesting the pair could form a partnership to terrorise Premier League defences for years to come.
