Our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern expected much more from Manchester City under Pep Guardiola this season, but for what ever reason, it hasn’t quite gone to plan for the former Barca and Bayern gaffer.
He’s found it hard to find his best starting eleven and has used so many different variations and so many players, which is maybe where he has gone wrong.
It also doesn’t help when your goalkeeper seemingly has a mare every week, and it’s an issue that is really bugging the Manchester City faithful here in the Tavern this season.
There are certainly players in that Manchester City team who arguably do not deserve to be starting week in, week out, and our landlord has decided to take a closer look at Guardiola’s men.
So, the landlord has decided to compile a list of TWO players who Guardiola simply must axe for the Premier League run-in.
GAEL CLICHY

He’s looked off the pace at City this season, and when Guardiola’s big transfer kitty comes into play, it is unlikely that he’ll feature as often.
He hasn’t looked like the Clichy of old this season ,and simply looks out of place in a Guardiola side.
He should probably look to play Kolarov in his place in his actual position, rather than at centre-back.
PABLO ZABALETA

Another player who doesn’t look like he once did in a City shirt. He’s not getting any younger and a move now could be right for his career at the moment, especially with the heavy investment expected from Guardiola.
But for the time being he really shouldn’t get in the side over Sagna who at times himself hasn’t been at his best, but he’s looked more adapted to Guardiola’s style than Zabaleta.
Sagna just has a bit more pace about him which is needed with how Pep utilises his right-back in his setup.
