The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern had big expectations last night, with the Reds facing off against Roma in the Champions League.
The game, which was being played at Anfield, had the potential to make or break Liverpool’s season.
A poor final 10 minutes left the Liverpool fans feeling disappointed, but it’s fair to say that the spell leading up to that period was simply sensational.
A stunning performance from the Reds saw them fire five goals past Roma, and nobody could have expected that sort of lethality.
However, there was one overarching sour note from the game. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was forced off with an injury.
That injury has now been confirmed to rule him out of the rest of the season, as well as the World Cup this summer. It’s a cruel blow for a player that deserved far better.
The Englishman has been important for Liverpool this season, having emerged as a favourite of Jurgen Klopp.
Unsurprisingly, the Liverpool fans over on Twitter are feeling very disappointed with the news, with most hoping that he will return sooner, rather than later.
