The future sure does look bright for Everton and their fans have been singing about it in the Transfer Tavern.

The Toffees’ youth system has really come to the fore this season and the performances of the academy prospects have really thrilled our resident Toffees in the Tavern.

The performances of academy graduates; Tom Davies, Mason Holgate and the signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin have particularly caught many eyes in the Tavern this season and much more is expected to filter in to the Everton first team under Ronald Koeman.

Saying this, there are a few members of Ronald Koeman’s contingent that the Everton fans in the Tavern have singled out for criticism and our landlord simply cannot understand why due to the performances of the Merseyside club this season.

On top of this, our landlord has done some extra research in response to his resident Evertonians’ ludicrous claims and whilst down in his beer cellar, he has compiled some interesting points that will disprove what he sees as complete nonsense from the Everton fans in the Tavern.

The Toffees in the Tavern still won’t have any of it and continue to criticise their designated scapegoats at their club.

Here are the two players that take the most flak from the Everton faithful…

Ross Barkley

Whilst Barkley used to be deemed as the chosen one by Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern, the current opinion of some says that the England international has not developed at the rate they’ve expected him too this season.

Our landlord feels it is outrageous that Barkley gets any flak from the Toffees in the Tavern and with as many assists as the likes of Adam Lallana and Chelsea duo, Pedro and Cesc Fabregas in the Premier League, he may be right that the criticism is unjust.

Joel Robles

Yes, he makes mistakes, but Joel Robles is actually a decent enough goalkeeper and deserves less of the hammering he gets when he does drop a clanger.

Only last week did he put in a fine shift against Manchester United at Old Trafford – one he thoroughly deserved a clean sheet from – and so he deserves more credit than he gets. He’ll never be a world-class stopper, but he’s certainly a very good one.
