Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern didn’t have their own side to watch last night but they kept close attention to Tottenham’s clash with Crystal Palace.
The Eagles had felled Liverpool at the weekend, opening the door to the Reds’ top-four rivals to take advantage, but they couldn’t secure a victory against Spurs, who took all three points courtesy of Christian Eriksen’s stunner.
Making a return for Sam Allardyce’s side in the match was Mamadou Sakho, after he was ineligible for the clash against parent club Liverpool on Sunday, but still made the headlines after celebrating Crystal Palace’s win.
Sakho was again a focal point in last night’s game but unfortunately not for the right reasons, as he was taken off on a stretcher at Selhurst Park – potentially ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
The French defender is likely to leave Anfield on a permanent deal this summer after falling out with Jurgen Klopp and our landlord was amused by the wealth of reaction on social media to Sakho’s injury….
