We’ve woken up to one of the biggest stories of the transfer window so far and the Manchester United fans here in the Tavern are absolutely delighted with the news that Romelu Lukaku is edging closer towards a move to Old Trafford.
The Belgian international has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park for months now after he rejected the offer of a new contract and now, it looks like his future is going to be at Old Trafford long-term.
Manchester United announced earlier this morning that a fee had been agreed with the Toffees and the only thing left to resolve was a medical and personal terms. It represents a massive coup for United boss Jose Mourinho and executive Ed Woodward, who have beaten Lukaku’s former employers Chelsea to his signature.
Antonio Conte is reportedly unhappy with Lukaku’s decision and his pursuit of top players is now going to have to step another gear itself.
But as you can imagine, Twitter has had a lot to say about the morning’s news and the Manchester United fans on social media are absolutely delighted with the capture of the giant Belgian.
So with that in mind, here’s the best of the fallout online…
