‘He wasn’t around first half!’ – Walcott talks about Arsenal midfielder

Theo Walcott was interviewed last night after Arsenal beat Ludogorets in the Champions League and reflected on Mesut Ozil’s performance, after the German midfielder scored a hat-trick against the Bulgarians.

The Gunners won 6-0 on the night to all but confirm their passage into the knockout stages but at half-time it was only 2-0.

The club had gone in front thanks to goals from Walcott and Alexis Sanchez, who scored a lofted opener before they truly took control through Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and, of course, Ozil but the former Southampton winger felt the German had actually gone missing in the first-half.

A video of what he said has been uploaded by the Hayters News Agency on Youtube that you can view below:

Of course, Walcott was joking in criticising the German and our resident Gunners fans here in the Transfer Tavern certainly felt that Ozil was top class last night.

One Gooner said by the bar: “He’s just unbelievable when he wants to be. What I’m pleased about most, though, is the fact that he’s finally adding more goals to his game than just loads of assists and I think that could be one of the big differences for us this season.”

Arsenal fans will be hoping Ozil can continue his form against Middlesbrough this weekend.
