Toffees fans in the Tavern are excited at the prospect of Morgan Schneiderlin teaming up with Ronald Koeman once again as the Dutchman continues to build a team capable of challenging for European qualification.

Ronald Koeman is an ambitious manager and as the January transfer window approaches, the former Barcelona legend will be looking to add real quality to the team and the Frenchman could be his first signing.

Everton prefer to play a short passing game, unlocking defences with precise through balls from midfield and seeking to get the ball out wide to their attacking players to feed balls into the striker.

Ross Barkley has been disappointing this season and whilst still highly regarded by the Everton faithful, the Toffee’s fans in the Tavern believe it might be time for the England man to move on as Ronald Koeman seeks more options in midfield.

Morgan Schneiderlin joined Man Utd for a figure in the region of £25million in 2015 but has had limited time on the pitch and a move to Everton could benefit both parties as Everton look to a future without Gareth Barry, who turns 36 next year.

Ronald Koeman has also been linked with Memphis Depay according to the Manchester Evening News which, given Yannick Bolasie’s long term injury is welcome news at the Tavern for Everton fans who demand exciting football.

So, how could Everton line up in 2017, take a look.

GK: Maarten Stekelenburg

The giant Dutch international keeper is an ever present for Everton this season having joined from Southampton in August.

At 6ft 6″ and with 58 international appearances, Maarten Stekelenburg adds height and experience to Everton’s backline.

RB: Seamus Coleman

The Republic Of Ireland captain has been a real star for the Toffees in previous seasons and at just 28 will remain a key figure at Everton for years to come.

Seamus Coleman is not only a great defender but also gets forward and scores goals too. The Irish star is a modern fullback and a leader on the pitch.

CB: Ashley Williams

The former Swansea and Welsh international defender, Ashley Williams, has added steel and goals to Everton’s backline since joining in the summer.

At 32, the experienced defender has forged a strong partnership with Phil Jagielka and recently scored the winner against high-flying Arsenal.

CB: Phil Jagielka

The former England international is an old fashioned centre back and despite turning 34 in August is still playing at a high level in the Premier League.

Phil Jagielka has made over 270 appearances for Everton since joining them from Sheffield United in 2007.

LB: Leighton Baines

Yet another experienced Everton defender, Leighton Baines is a fan’s favourite scoring important goals and playing with real passion and determination.

Leighton Baines has just 30 England caps despite being one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League for over a decade. He joined Everton from Wigan Athletic in 2007.

CDM: Morgan Schneiderlin

The former Southampton star and French international has had a tough time at Man Utd where his playing time has been limited since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

Morgan Schneiderlin is an experienced and talented midfielder; a great tackler with terrific passing ability and if he can recapture the form he showed at Southampton and the early part of his Man Utd career he’ll be a real asset for Everton.

CDM: Idrissa Gueye

The Senegalese international is a real terrier in midfield; strong defensively and a great tackler of the ball.

Idrissa Gueye joined Everton in the summer from the relegated Aston Villa.  The punters in the Tavern liken him to N’Golo Kante and whilst he may not get the headlines in every game, his contribution should not be underestimated.

RAM: Kevin Mirallas

The Belgian winger is a free kick specialist and an expert crosser of the ball; a seasoned international who has a great friendship with fellow Belgian Romelu Lukaku, the Everton striker.

Kevin Mirallas joined Everton in 2012 from Olympiacos and has made 127 appearances for The Toffees and scored 27 goals.  Another real fan’s favourite who drives at the opposition and delivers key passes in the final third.

CAM: Memphis Depay

Once touted as the next Cristiano Ronaldo, the young Dutch star has failed to fulfil his potential at Man Utd following his reported £25million transfer in 2015.

Memphis Depay is an incredible talent; a fantastic dribbler dripping with technical ability.  If he can rediscover the form that he had at PSV, the form that got the world’s elite clambering for his signature, then Ronald Koeman may have secured one of the greatest signings in the history of Everton Football Club.

LAM: Yannick Bolasie

After joining Everton for a reported £25million fee in August, Yannick Bolasie has been electric, creating 4 goals and terrifying Premier League defences every time he plays.

When the Congolese star is on form, the ball simply sticks to his feet and he is seemingly impossible to defend against.  Yannick Bolasie is direct and unpredictable, some liken his awkward trickery to that of Paulo Wanchope (if you remember him) and is a key attacking threat in Everton’s team.

ST: Romelu Lukaku

At just 23 Romelu Lukaku is now a proven Premier League goal scorer and an established international striker for Belgium playing alongside Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

Romelu Lukaku is strong, direct, powerful and on his day completely unplayable. The big Belgian is surely being monitored by some of the biggest clubs in the world including his former employers Chelsea, where he was once labelled as ‘the next Didier Drogba’.
